Winter, Skiing and the Greigor Retreat Center

So, today I just got back from our family's annual trip to our friend's cabin deep in the woods of Washington state. We've done it every year since I was 2 years old!! Our friends have this really nice modernized cabin really close to Crystal Mountain near Greenwater (doubtful anyone would know where that is). It's amazing. This year, two members of the usual group were missing due to sickness, causing a slight sadness, but it was still fun nevertheless! We play games, puzzles, go hot tubbing, go on walks, sleep, eat and relax. It's basically paradise. Even without any electronics, except for the occasional hot spot for service, it is more than bearable. The highlight is skiing on Crystal mountain, the BEST place to go skiing in the whole world. It was so beautiful this time because the sun was shining and it was a clear day with fresh snow. It was a Sunday, so there was no better time or place to worship our wonderful Creator(:
This is what I love about winter. The stillness, the crisp, cold beauty, the green trees, the snow, the peacefulness, the warm fires, blankets and friends. Snowboard-bum run ice cream stores, elk in your front yard, steaming in a hot tub while looking up at the stars, freezing for that couple of seconds while running from your car to the house. Lots of people say that life is not perfect, but I believe that's as close as it will ever get.
